Dr. Eric Chronister (B.S in Chemistry and Physics, UCLA; and Ph.D. in Chemical Physics, University of Illinois) is the Dean of the College of Sciences at UNLV.
Dr. Chronister’s research focuses on materials science, chemical sensors, and the study of novel materials under extreme pressure and temperature conditions. Dr. Chronister’s collaborative research combines his expertise in chemistry, physics, and biophyiscs, to explore properties and applications of novel molecular materials. His research has resulted a hundred scientific papers, scores of invited lectures, and millions of dollars in research grants from an array of federal agencies.
Dr. Chronister has received campus awards for mentoring of undergraduate research, an AAAS fellowship for his leadership in his field, and an international Senior Scientist Fellowship from the French Ministry of Research.
Dr. Chronister has served his department and college in a number of leadership roles, including Undergraduate Advisor, Department Chair, and Dean with the common goal of enhancing research training and student success.
